Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Founder Ben Griggs and Operations Manager Sarah Bristow, to enjoy a delicious coffee while learning about their growing business and the role custom seasonal packaging plays in their success.

 

About Bean Theory

Bean Theory has quickly become a beloved coffee destination with two stunning locations in and around Cambridge. Their first café is nestled near the idyllic Mill Pond which opened in May last year, and their second site on the Waresley Park Estate - a short drive out of Cambridge - started to welcome customers in June this year. Alongside the estate café, they also operate their own roastery called Hone, which they launched in December to ensure their coffee is roasted to true perfection.

Bean Theory is about serving the best coffee we possibly can,” shares Ben. “But Bean Theory is more than just coffee, it’s about inclusivity, community and creating a space where everyone feels welcome. From students studying all day in Cambridge to cyclists and wild swimmers enjoying the scenic Waresley Park Estate, Bean Theory has become a place for a wide range of customers.

Their approach is all about detail; great coffee, superb machines and equipment, in-depth staff training and adapting to their customers' needs. With 20 team members working across their sites, Ben and Sarah have worked hard to build an adaptable, community-focused brand, which is going from strength to strength.

 

The Role of Branded Cups

For Bean Theory, custom branded cups aren’t just packaging, they’re an extension of the customer experience.

Everything is about detail, and to have branded cups is really important for us because the customer holds it, it’s the one thing other than the coffee that they take away with them. A lot of people like and comment on the cups, and it’s nice to be able to change their designs. Our regulars really notice it and look forward to December when we have our Christmas cups. It really gives us that edge.
